Optimizing Asana Sequencing and Breath for Deep Rest

A 90-MINUTE EXPERIENTIAL SESSION

The breath is a gateway into the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). When we utilize breath along with effective asana sequencing, we begin to train the ANS towards greater parasympathetic balance and find deeper possibilities for rest and renewal. Sequencing asanas is an art and a science. When you add specific breathing practices to this mix, you can profoundly catalyze the effects of yoga postures.

In this workshop, Kristine Kaoverii Weber, the founder of Subtle Yoga and the director of the Subtle Yoga Training for Behavioral Health Professionals at the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina, will provide an introduction to utilizing the breath and sequencing for deep rest. She will teach you several powerful practices that will help you profoundly shift your nervous system whenever you need to and which, when practiced over time, can contribute to making positive neuroplastic changes to your system.

You will learn:

  • How slow, mindful movement has different benefits than cardio-vascular exercise

  • How a simple sequence of asanas, catalyzed by specific breathing patterns, that can move your nervous system toward deeper and deeper states of relaxation

  • A specific breathing practice to assist in this effort

  • A guided visualization to elicit deep rest

Please join Kristine for this 90 minute session. You’ll leave feeling rested and restored!

Rest Better, Live Better with Yoga Nidra

A 90-MINUTE EXPERIENTIAL SESSION

Rest is one of the most fundamental principles we need in order to live our best lives. It’s not often that we give ourselves permission to rest and restore. We tend to view rest as a luxury versus an essential part of self care. Yoga Nidra known as yogic sleep uses the biological process of sleep to enter deeper brainwave states, allowing the body to rest, restore and revitalize. By using breath, body and awareness techniques we begin to ‘teach’ the body to enter a deep state of rest. In this 90 minute session, you will receive two Yoga Nidra experiences and will begin to see the benefit of rest and just being.

Listening to What’s Here and Now: Restorative Yoga and Alexander Technique as Meditation

A 90-MINUTE EXPERIENTIAL SESSION

Kristen will be teaching a class of Restorative Yoga to deeply settle and stabilize the body-mind. Through the principles of Alexander Technique, and meditation, we will embody listening. Listening is being open and receptive; feeling the sensations inside the body, hearing the soundscape outside the body, and softening to what is right here, right now. This is true settling, true stability.
