ABOUT THE EVENT

For years, nutritionist and somatic educator Luis Mojica has been asking people, “What did you have for breakfast?” That’s because he knows food is therapy, and the choices we make each day impact our capacity to heal from anxiety, stress, and trauma. Food can feel like the problem and the balm, but it always reveals when - and often why - we’re out of balance.

This is something Luis understands on a personal level: throughout childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood, he used binge-eating as a way to cope with being born intersex, being viciously bullied in school, and surviving sexual assault. From this state of overeating came a myriad of health complications stacked with emotional trauma and shame. He finally began to slowly heal after connecting his body to music, somatic therapy, and whole foods nutrition.

In his upcoming book, Food Therapy: Conscious Eating to Navigate Anxiety, Stress, and Trauma (published by Hay House in April 2026), Luis shares this wisdom with us with personal experiences woven in. He also offers a groundbreaking approach to eating to support the nervous system, adrenals, and glucose balance. When we learn how nutrition impacts our emotions and our bodies, every food choice becomes an opportunity to shift internal biochemistry and support our goals, both internal and external.

This event is free to attend live, plus when you register you’ll also get access to the recordings. Pre-order your copy of Food Therapy: Conscious Eating to Navigate Anxiety, Stress, and Trauma here.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

In this discussion with Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, nutritionist, and author Luis Mojica, we’ll learn how to:

  • Build your awareness of food’s power to stimulate, depress, or balance your body.

  • Destigmatize your cravings and recognize that any food can be an ally on the path of healing.

  • Interrupt cycles of emotional eating and understand the emotional, relational, or nutritional needs you’re trying to fill.

  • Reduce food-induced stress so you can better handle life’s stressors.

Whether you’re a therapist, nutritionist, doctor, mother, or curious lurker, every human has a body and a relationship with food. Luis offers fresh insights and simple practices to strengthen that relationship and turn food into your greatest ally.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Luis Mojica

Luis Mojica is a New York-based Somatic Educator and Nutritionist who teaches people how to find safety in themselves.

“Healing is what happens when the relationship between your body, your thoughts, and your environment is nurturing.” —LUIS MOJICA

The relationship between you and your body is a somatic and spiritual experience. Luis’ intention is not to “be healthy” anymore but to live in a way that is congruent, nurturing, and kind to himself, his body, and others. He can then allow health to unfurl from that grounded place within him.

Luis found his path to a more flexible nervous system through somatic practices, whole foods nutrition, and an ongoing conversation with the body that transformed both his process and results around trauma recovery.

The more Luis listens to what the body is telling him through sensations, the simpler it is for him to follow. This has helped with things like saying no, setting boundaries, speaking his truth, knowing what he wants, and asking for what he needs.

Luis loves teaching people around the world these tools and practices to understand themselves through a more embodied perspective.
